Slash and Mulch Program

Each year Douglas County has a slash and mulch program that is usually held every Saturday from the end of May through the beginning of September. This program is part of the County’s wildfire mitigation and recycling efforts.

Residents can pick up free mulch material at the Castle Rock Water Treatment Plant at the end of the slash collection season.

Acceptable materials include:

Tree branches and shrubbery with a maximum length of six feet and maximum diameter of 12 inches
All loads must be covered and tied
Unacceptable materials include:

• Stumps
• Roots
• Lumber
• Ties
• Grass
• Dirt
• Weeds
• Household trash
• Appliances
